Adventure 1 - Hiking, ok so we cheated and took the bus half way up the hill, but it was still a solid 2 hour hike through the forest near Liestal. We discovered old bunkers that were built as look out posts during world war 1, then climbed to the top of an observation tower right at the peak for some great views across Switzerland and Germany.

Time for a ride on the steam engine, the driver showed us how it worked, right down to shovelling small pieces of coal into the tiny furnace.

Dan and Samuel take a flight on the Kitty hawk simulator, the first successful 'heavier-than-air' powered aircraft, designed and built by the Wright brothers in 1903.
(kids are in the first carriage by the way, but this guy stole the show!)
On the trek home we chanced across a model airplane flying club, who were completely engrossed in their art of flying gliders, helicopters, spitfires (3 in formation.......yeeeees!!) and even jet powered remote controlled model planes!!!
Yes, you read that right, JET powered,
J E T powered!
Did we mention that some of the planes were jet powered?
