Stuff we love!
This page is a complete dice roll on trying to make some kind of income whilst we are on the move. We will add items slowly and in no particular order, as well as open some ad space too. Don’t worry, we are not building an email list and you will not get annoying pop ups either!
Scroll all the way down if you are interested in how we intend to earn some cash from our laptop.
Thanks for reading.

Kumon books.Being on the road and 'homeschooling' we are constantly on the lookout for great educational tools, our daughter was struggling with multiplication, so on the recommendation of friends we bought her some Kumon books.
She loves the books and whizzes through the exercises. She has gained so much confidence from them, thank you Kumon! ----------------------------------------------------------------- Tangle Teezer.I urge Fathers, Brothers, Uncles and Grandpas TO NOT SKIP OVER THIS!
This brush has brought calm to the grooming madness that once ensued, thank you oh fabled Tangle Teezer! Until 3 weeks ago the stress caused in our house over keeping 3 daughters heads of hair unknotted was off the charts! ----------------------------------------------------------------- Canon Ixus. The Ixus is a brilliant 'point and click' compact camera, easily slipped into your pocket and stands up to being dropped and manhandled by toddlers!
We have used this same brand for over 15 years, it has never let us down and takes some great pics! ----------------------------------------------------------------- LeapPad.The good old Leap Pad, we have 2 of these as we have 3 year old twins, they are awesome.....the leap pad that is :)
Think of it as a cheaper, more robust iPad! Take heed, these fellas take AA batteries, so make sure to order some Eneloop rechargeable batteries too! Save the earth and your pennies! ----------------------------------------------------------------- Zoe The Zookeeper.Ok, so a bit of a self plug on this one, sorry!
Dan wrote this book when we were expecting our first baby, it is written for young ones and is a fun story of how Zoe saves the day at her zoo. |

How can we make cash from our laptop?
We have been travelling for 6 months now and for this time have not been earning any income, we thought at some point during our travels that we would come up with an idea to bring in some pennies, it seems that time has come.
We did not intend for this blog to ever become a business of any sort, rather just a website where friends and family could check in on where we were and the adventures we were having. But then something happened that made us realise it wasn’t just family and friends that were interested in our travels.
After a retweet and a favourite on Twitter from Tim Ferriss highlighting one of our blog updates we decided to take a look at the basic stats for our site, see below….

But then something happened that made us realise it wasn’t just family and friends that were interested in our travels.
After a retweet and a favourite on Twitter from Tim Ferriss highlighting one of our blog updates we decided to take a look at the basic stats for our site, see below….
Before his retweet we were chugging along at anywhere between 15 and 125 visitors per day, the day of Tim’s tweet we hit 3657 views!
As you can see, after the spike the graph went straight back to the norm, but what really interested us was the fact that even before the tweet, some days we were getting well over 100 visits, this surely wasn’t all friends and family!
Then we started getting unsolicited emails and tweets from people who had seen the site, been inspired by it and were hoping to do something along the same lines!

So, it seems at least, we have an audience, all be it a very small one.
We began to think about why people were visiting the site, what did they want to learn and how could we help them? We love to travel and also know the joys and pains of parenthood, that’s for sure!
The problem we faced was, could we combine the 2 subjects, impart our knowledge onto others and make some pennies for ourselves in return, all from our laptop and without spending any money in setting up a ‘business’.
The answer is yes, we can, or more specifically, at least we can try and see how it works out.......
Another nod to Tim Ferriss here, in his book the ‘Four Hour Work Week’ he advocates creating a ‘muse’ (an automated revenue stream) and goes into some examples of different types of businesses you could start for very little or no money, one of the examples he used was becoming an online Amazon associate.

The way this works in a nutshell….
Seems pretty simple right?
Well only time will tell and we can share the results with you as we go.
One thing we will stress though……our ‘Mantra’ if you will.
EVERY item that we put on the site will be something we have used ourselves, whether we have bought it, borrowed it, or stolen it (well, we haven’t stolen anything, but the sentence flowed well!)
We will give honest reviews and include any the negatives of each item, nothing is perfect after all!
The products will vary vastly, from books, baby strollers, suitcases, cameras, all kinds of different paraphernalia, it will be a real mish mash of things that have helped us survive parenthood and enjoy our fun and safe travels.
- Visitor of website reads article.
- Visitor likes the article and the product that the author has been waxing lyrical about.
- Author includes a link to the product.
- Visitor presses link, is directed straight to the Amazon page and buys product.
- Amazon pay author a commission between 4-8%
- Visitor happy, Author happy, Amazon happy.
