Our drive North West to Truckee near Lake Tahoe was supposed to be 3.5- 4 hours, however, we had no idea that we were travelling over Memorial Day weekend and were stuck in traffic for pretty much most of the journey. It took us almost 6.5 hours in the end, with only one brief stop. The kids were great, especially poor Sophia who threw up most of the journey with what we thought was acute travel sickness (the roads were very straight) but in retrospect was actually a niggly 24 hour sickness bug, which of course worked it’s way around us all over the next few days.
Thankfully upon our arrival we found that our homeswap property was amazing, a huge log cabin in the woods. It had such a homely feel and we were so glad of the 'one touch to light' big fire as soon as we arrived as temperatures had plummeted and we were all freezing!
Another success for direct contact on Twitter, Chris even visited our blog and commended our family adventure!
The Space Needle is an observation tower, a landmark of the Pacific Northwest, and an icon of Seattle. It was built for the 1962 World's Fair, which drew over 2.3 million visitors, when nearly 20,000 people a day used its elevators!
This was an amazing educational experience for us all and one we will remember for a long time!
Goodbye Seattle and thank you!
