Leaving Sydney.
We left Sydney, but not before we made some time to have a BBQ picnic in Centennial Park with Mike and Faye. The BBQ pits are free and gas operated, and as Dan and Mike found out, double as a great wicket for a little game of tete a tete cricket. The kids were of course all in the playground just 10 - 15 metres away, so everybody was happy.
Dan also managed to get a ‘liquid’ lunch in with old mates Dan and Dan. Yes, the 3 Dans were in Manly Wharf Bar, which is just about the best place in the world you could ever have a beer.
Greg and Alison also made the trek over the bridge to visit us in Paddington before we left town too. So, of course there were beers and wine in the park, more playing, a BBQ for the kids and an awesome Tapas dinner in Paddington for the adults.
Our last night found us back at Robyn and Michaels for Fajitas on the deck overlooking Bondi and a swim in their pool, oh life was tough!
Arriving on The Gold Coast.
Exploring the Goldcoast has been a lot of fun, the beaches are just incredible. The city consists of 70 kilometres (43 mi) of coastline with some of the most popular surf breaks in Australia and the world. With a claim like that, it has taken just fifty years to grow from a small beachside holiday destination to Australia's sixth largest city.
“We saw a big rabbit and a Chicken Bush! “We saw a big rabbit and a Chicken Bush! “We saw a big rabbit and a Chicken Bush!”
Big Rabbit | Chicken Bush |
Yes is the answer, and we accredit it to them eating their vegetables that night, rather than the clump of foam that dan put in their trainers. It did work! System foiled and rules bent we managed to get them on the rides they so longed to go on the day before, and they loved every second of every one of them.
Goodbye Gold Coast, but more importantly, Goodbye Australia!
You have filled every expectation and then some, we had an amazing 2 months and have been welcomed every step of our journey. We are all sad to leave and will return again one day to discover the rest of this vast land!
