Ready for lunch after a walk around the wharf and the rocks we grabbed some fish and chips and headed into the Botanical Gardens for a picnic, with possibly the best view ever. Energised after a rest and some lunch we carried on exploring the gardens and then headed into the main CBD to check out the christmas decorations in town, which were actually very sparse - come on Sydney!
We did find a large christmas tree in Martin Place, but the day had all been too much for Samuel, so he missed this one! Martin place is where the siege in the coffee shop had just taken place one week before, there was a tent set up with lots of flowers laid out in respect for the people who lost their lives that day, a terrible tragedy.
Milk, pie, carrot and beer were set out for our nocturnal guests and off to bed we went. Luckily Santa had kept tabs on our travels (fan of the blog maybe?) and as usual delivered on time!
We are lucky to know so many people who live in this city and have managed to catch up with loads of people whilst exploring the city and suburbs. We were also contacted by the Brooks family who found us through our blog. They are also currently travelling with their 2 young kids and wanted to meet up to swap stories and tips. We had a great day in Centennial Park and then a bbq back at our place. The kids had fun together and it was great to get some tips on New Zealand, our next country to visit!
